Joe was a very unique person. I don't think he knew a stranger. He would talk to anyone, anyplace. Sometimes you wanted him to be still for a few minutes. One of our favorite jokes was that he was my favorite son-in-law as he was the only son-in-law I had for a number of years. Joe was quite a prankster. He would always pull some kinds of tricks on the kids, especially Jennie's kids. I got where I had to check my car over when I went to get into it as he was always putting something on my steering wheel or in the seats, or something he thought he could pester me with. Joe really liked kids. He was always the one to hide the Easter eggs & take the kids trick-or-treating. If the kids got to rowdy he would take them off & talk to them & get them out of the adults hair. Thank you Joe for that. You don't realize the little things a person does until they aren't here. Joe was also our resident gardener. He came & took care of the pruning & other yard work. It seemed like to matter what you asked him to do, he would try his best to do it for us. That included painting even though he didn't particularly like it. I remember when I lived in Okanogan & was having a lot of trouble with my back & I could hardly move, Janice & Joe came to take me to the doctor & he must have been going about 90 miles an hour between Okanogan & Omak. I guess he wanted to get my mind off my pain. As much as we would like to have him here, I like to think of the old hymn, Peace in the Valley. Joe suffered many years, now he is at peace & out of pain. We can think of Joe as taking care of the gardens in heaven. We all miss you Joe. Helen & Rod
